NIGHTLIGHT @ BOMBHOUSE GALLERY/STUDIOS
“In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary” - Aaron Rose
NightLight, the next exhibition to take place at Bombhouse Gallery/Studios, will open to the public on Thursday November 26th. The exhibition is based on the theme of captured light, where the only source of light for the show will be the artworks themselves.
Nightlight grew from a shared interest several of the resident artists at Bombhouse had in the ability light has to transform a space without physically altering it. From a abundance of varied and interesting proposals the selected works include, a coin operated machine, large photographic lightboxes, 1000 clocks, a number of video pieces, illuminated paper cranes, neon lettering and more. Artists were encouraged to work with the space and create something tailored to this one of a kind show. The gallery itself is a open plan warehouse and the 18 selected artists will fill the darkness with beautiful and completely different but complimentary pieces.
Another important element to the show is that it will run for six nights, opening each evening just before it gets dark. The audience therefore has the opportunity to watch their surroundings change. As it gets darker outside, inside the pieces will slowly illuminate the gallery. A number of features will open the show each evening. On the 26th, Phil Hession, performance artist will open the first night with a performance involving a number of flashing SLR cameras, fluorescent tape and traditional song recital.
